Loss of a Pet

Yesterday, our family dog "Noel" unexpectedly began to get extremely ill. She began breathing extremely hard which made me realize that something wasn't right. I immediately called my mom and asked her to come to my house right away so that my little girl dog could get rushed to the emergency vet. I recently had my gallbladder removed so there was absolutely no way that I could lift my dog without the help of someone else. The emergency vet did everything that they could possibly do. Unfortunately, Noel went into sudden heart failure and her kidneys began to fail. They couldn't continue giving her fluids which were helping her kidneys, because all of that water began accumulating on her heart. Needless to say, I was devastated... I still am. I am in shock. Noel was my first baby. My kid's absolutely adored her.

I was so worried how my kids would take this news, especially, my little guy. He has always loved Noel and one of his first words were Toelle. He has called her that up until this day. He cried when he heard the news. This was a loss that we didn't see coming so unfortunately there was no way that we could have prepped him for this. Shortly after crying, he surprised me when he said, "Mom, it's okay, Toelle is going to the golden land. She's going to be with Toby. Jesus will take care of her. Don't cry Mommy." Sometimes, the most re-assurance that we can be given comes from children. He was able to articulate his feelings in a way that I could never imagine. His statement made me feel assured in knowing that my little girl dog is no longer suffering and as my little guy so eloquently said, "She's in the golden land running through fields with Toby!"
